About This Spot

Walking through the doors of Del Carmen Mexican Store & Restaurant, you immediately sense a lively, welcoming atmosphere punctuated by vibrant colors and the hum of everyday life. It’s a spot that comfortably blends the bustle of a neighborhood grocer with the warmth of a cherished family kitchen — a place where traditional Mexican ingredients meet familiar, comforting flavors.

The rhythm here is unhurried yet dynamic, inviting you to linger awhile whether you’re browsing the shelves stocked with Mexican staples or settling into a cozy booth to savor a meal. The curated mix of grocery aisles and a casual dining space creates a unique synergy where discovery is part of the experience: you might find yourself exploring bags of dried chiles or jars of mole while the scent of fresh tortillas and simmering spices floats enticingly in the air.

At its heart, Del Carmen feels like a small cultural enclave tucked away on 7th Street, where the food and the people tell stories. The menu weaves together bright, familiar dishes — from the zesty layers of enchiladas to playful street tacos and indulgent fried ice cream — all underscored by flavors that hint at both traditional roots and Tex-Mex influences. Pairing a tangy mango margarita with a lively melody in the background, the pace slows down enough for genuine moments: sharing chips and salsa, savoring guacamole made fresh, or simply soaking in the vibrant, handcrafted decor.

What truly sets this place apart is the blend of culinary and communal experiences: the grocery store side invites local shoppers and curious food lovers alike to connect with authentic ingredients and everyday Mexican pantry essentials, while the restaurant side offers a hands-on encounter with those same flavors brought to life by friendly, attentive staff. Whether you’re coming for a quick pick-me-up or a fuller dive into the culture, there’s a tactile, human quality to every visit — a warmth that resonates beyond the food.

Del Carmen Mexican Store & Restaurant reflects the rich layers of Mexican heritage with an unpretentious charm, creating a space that’s both a destination and a local ritual. It’s less about speed and spectacle and more about discovery, comfort, and the subtle joy of sharing outdoors-inspired recipes and time-tested tastes.

An amazing colorful place that takes you through cuisine and music to Mexican lands! The food is finger-lickin’ good and the ice cream is out of this world! They also have a supermarket with lots of Mexican herbs, munchies, trinkets and more… YOU GUYS MUST GO!

The food is good, not great though I originally went because other reviews said the food was authentic, though I have my own opinion on that does have a little mixed flavor of Tex mex. I love love the store, though the times I’ve gone into the store. I buy meat from the meat market. Lots of Mexican products.

Everything is just delicious. The waitress was attentive. It was perfect for ADHD because everywhere you looked was something else to study and remark in its craftsmanship.

We had a great time at this place with friends. The food was authentic and fresh tasting. The atmosphere was warm and inviting for this kind of restaurant. My only complaint is that our booth along the front windows we're very dark and gloomy. I enjoy mood lighting but this was just lack of light period. Other than that, the food was great and so was the service. Great prices for what we got. The chips and salsa were unique tasting as well. Parking was on the street in front of the restaurant, but I'm sure you can find more parking spot near by if it's busy. The Food shown in the pictures represents the following dishes, 3 tacos, Gordian platter, and chicken fajitas.

We didn’t eat at the restaurant just decided to stop by the store. It is small but has most of the things my wife wanted so that’s a win. The only thing she didn’t like was that the breads were not fresh. Otherwise a nice little store.
